Malacañang supported the deployment ban order of Labor Sec. Silvestre Bello III but “lukewarm” to mandatory repatriation for Filipino workers in Libya.

According to Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, Secretary Bello is “handling the situation rightly, correctly.”

Panelo said, there is no enough reason yet to order repatriation considering not all Filipino workers in Libya are affected by the recent conflict.

The Palace official clarified that the government will apply “studied reaction” based on the situation where our overseas Filipino workers are deployed.

“Eh, si Secretary Bello, he is handling the situation rightly, correctly. So, kasi marami ang nagsasabi doon na hindi naman daw sila affected kasi malayo. So, baka masyado namang hasty kung papauwiin natin, wala naman. So, depende sa sitwasyon. Again, that will be a studied reaction, titingnan natin ang sitwasyon bago tayo kumilos,” Panelo said in Palace press briefing.
