BAGUIO CITY – Authorities are on the hunt for two suspects in the burning of a vehicle used in the on-going Chico River Irrigation Pump Project (CRIPP) in Kalinga Province.

Based on the initial report conducted by Brig. Gen. Henry Doyaoen, commander of the 503rd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army, footprints of two individuals were seen at the place of incident.

Two former employees of the project who got fired due to their absenteeism is being considered as the suspects in the foiled burning of a pay loader used in the project.

He said that military considers the arson attempt as a minor incident but it is still being investigated by the police.

“We do not consider this as an act made by the New People’s Army because of the methodology on how they tried to burn the side of the seat of the vehicle and its radiator tube because normally, the NPA’s would use explosives and immediately declare their involvement,” Doyaoen said.

Investigation shows that suspects used newspapers and plastic sacks used for rice in burning the said vehicle.

He also assured the presence of the AFP and PNP to secure facilities being used in government projects so that people will get progressive gains from these projects.
