The Philippines and the United Arab Emirates have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at reducing plastic waste in the oceans.
The signing ceremony took place at the World Governments Summit, which convened under the theme “Shaping Future Governments.”
First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos was present to witness the historic agreement, which focuses on cutting marine plastic pollution by 50% by 2030.
She expressed her gratitude towards the UAE for their support in achieving this ambitious target and for sharing their expertise in building effective waste management systems.
‘We are grateful to our partners in the UAE for helping us cut marine plastic litter by 50% by 2030 and for sharing their expertise on building better waste management systems,’ said Liza Marcos.
