The Philippines is among 124 developing and least developed countries to join India’s Global South summit during the G20 Summit.
The event was entitled Voice of the Global South Summit because it aimed to give voice to the developing and least developed countries.
It was held from January 12-13, 2023 that focus on its theme “international attention on priorities, perspectives, and concerns of the developing world.”
“This is particularly relevant as the world passes through a difficult period marked by challenges to health, food security, affordable access to energy, climate finance and technologies, and economic growth,” Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said.
The Inaugural Leaders’ session was presided over by Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and addressed concerns of the developing world.
There, Modi cited the key issues at stake for the developing world.
Modi highlighted issues on the table. He emphasizes the opportunity for helping societies and economies of the Global South through the same vision and goal for change.
He noted and offered the achievements of India in sustainable solutions which could help the countries who attended the event.
Modi added that developing countries should have access to technology, knowledge, and critical resources.
In the last part of the event, the participating countries express their hope that may the summit serve as a way in building a good future for the world and address the needs of the Global South.
