Nagpaabot ng pakikiramay ang Pilipinas sa Indonesia matapos tumama ang 7.2 magnitude na lindol at tsunami noong Biyernes kung saan mahigit 400 katao ang nasawi.
Inaasahan pa na posibleng tataas ang bilang ng mga casualties kasunod ng mga nangyaring aftershocks.
Ayon kay Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, kaisa ang Pilipinas sa mga Indonesian sa pag-alay ng dasal para sa mga nasawi sa trahedya.
Tiniyak naman ni Roque ang kahandaan ng Pilipinas para rumisponde at magpaabot ng tulong.
“We join the people of Indonesia in offering our prayers to the hundreds who died after a powerful 7.4 earthquake and tsunami hit Central Sulawesi last Friday. The only Filipino in the area, as per the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), is safe. The Philippines is ready to respond and extend assistance to Indonesia,” statement ni Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
Mensahe naman ni Foreign Affairs Sec. Alan Peter Cayetano, “We grieve with our Indonesian brothers and sisters and stand hand in hand with them in praying for all of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.â€
Iniulat din ni Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Leehiong T. Wee na apektado din ng lindol at tsunami ang provincial capital ng Palu at ang siyudad ng Donggala.
Ligtas na rin ang kaisa-isang Filipino sa lugar na kasalukuyang nasa Lapas Penitentiary.
