BAGUIO CITY – “Home sweet home” na ang Filipina-Belgian beauty queen na si Roxanne Baeyens na nagwagi bilang first runner up sa Miss Tourism and Culture Universe 2019 na ginanap sa Myanmar.
Sa exclusive interview ng Star FM Baguio kay Baeyens, ibinahagi nitong hindi niya makakalimutan ang kanyang karanasan sa naturang international pageant.
“It was really fun. I got to meet all the other candidates. I learned about their culture, their individualities. They were all so nice and the organizers were very welcoming. We got to tour around Myanmar so that was the best part and it was a privilege not only to represent the Cordillera but the entire Philippines.”
Ikinuwento ng 22-year-old mula Baguio City na dati na niyang naramdamang hindi siya para sa mga beauty pageants.
“I wanted to but I didn’t think that I was capable, because I was very thin before. I wasn’t so confident, but when I entered college, people tried helping me and [they gave me advice] that I should join or at least try. So I gave it a shot and it was really fun.”
May mga pagkakataon rin aniya na natatalo siya pero ipinagpatuloy niya pa rin ang kanyang pangarap.
“First time ko, I didn’t get it. The following months, I was (first runner up in the next pageants). I had a lot of failures but I think it’s not really failure. It’s more of an experience. After each pageant, I get better and better so I’m really happy that I started from the bottom and then I grew, and now I am a better beauty queen.”
Masaya rin ang Cordilleran beauty na nakapagbigay siya ng karangalan sa Pilipinas at magpapatuloy pa raw siya sa kanyang pagsali sa iba’t-ibang mga pageant.
“I’m eyeing already on a national pageant next year. Surprise na lang din!”
Nagpasalamat rin ito sa lahat ng mga Pilipinong bumoto at sumuporta sa kanya.
“Thank you mga kababayan kong Pilipino. I really felt your support. That’s one thing that gave me confidence, knowing that you were all there with me, supporting me. Thank you for all the shares, for all the likes, for motivating me. You are all my inspiration and I love you all very much. I’m so proud that I was able to represent the Cordillera and the Philippines. Para sa inyo ito Pilipinas!”
Sa pagbabalik ni Baeyens sa bansa, ipagpapatuloy niya naman ang kanyang reign bilang Face of Tourism Philippines 2019.
