Following the successful completion of its ‘Traslacion 2025’ operations, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), under the leadership of Chairman and CEO Richard “Dick” Gordon, is now gearing up for another major event – the Sinulog Festival in Cebu, in honor of Señor Sto. Niño.

Chairman Gordon assured the public of the PRC’s ongoing presence throughout the month-long festival.

“Our staff and volunteers were already deployed before the Sinulog began. Our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) teams remain on standby to provide medical assistance to millions of local and international tourists expected to attend the festival. We have activated all our assets and are fully prepared to serve,” Gordon stated.

The PRC has mobilized 200 volunteers, six ambulance units, two rescue boats, four service vehicles, and a food truck.

Additionally, they have set up 22 first aid stations, welfare desks, water stations, a communication center, and an Emergency Field Hospital (EFH) with ten beds.

PRC Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang emphasized the importance of safety measures for a safe and solemn celebration.

“It is crucial to stay hydrated, bring snacks, and wear comfortable, appropriate clothing and footwear. If you have a medical condition, it is highly recommended to carry your medical identification tag for emergencies. The public can also reach Red Cross assistance by dialing 143,” Dr. Pang advised.

PRC operations commenced on January 9 during the Novena Mass and Walk with Jesus and will continue for other upcoming festival activities, including Walk with Mary, Fluvial Parade, Solemn Procession, and the Sinulog Grand Parade on January 19.
