LONDON, England- The Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, had been admitted to the hospital on Friday afternoon as a “precautionary measure.”
The 98-year-old prince was taken to the King Edward VII hospital to conduct observation and treatment for his pre-existing condition.
“The Duke of Edinburgh travelled from Norfolk this morning to the King Edward VII Hospital in London for observation and treatment in relation to a pre-existing condition,” the palace said in a statement.
“The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’ Doctor.”
Prince Philip is expected to stay in the hospital overnight.
In 2017, the prince retired from doing public activities.
