A suspected drug personality was killed during a buy-bust operations launched by the joint elements of Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) against a well-known drug personality earlier today.
PNP-ARMM Regional Police Director, Police Brig. Gen. Graciano Mijares, identified the suspect as Tara Darimbang alias “Taha”, a resident of Barangay Biosong, Picong, Lanao del Sur.
According to Mijares, the suspect is among those drug personalities in ARMM that they have been monitoring.
He said Darimbang transacted with a police officer who acted as a poseur buyer but when the suspect sensed that he was dealing with an undercover, he immediately fired shots towards the policemen which prompted them to retaliate.
Darimbang was declared dead on the spot.
Recovered from the suspect were sachet of suspected drugs, cal.45 pistol, buy bust money and drug paraphernalia. Authorities immediately turned it over to PNP Crime Laboratory for proper disposition.
The police general assured that they have strenghtened their anti-illegal drugs campaign in the ARMM region.
