Pormal ng nag-assumed bilang ika-34th Commander ng Western Command (WESCOM) si Rear Admiral Roberto Enriquez.
Si Enriquez ang pumalit sa pwesto ni Lt.Gen. Erickson Gloria na ngayon ay Vice Chief of Staff na ng AFP.
Sa pamamagitan ng virtual teleconference, pinanunahan ni AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Gilbert Gapay, ang Change of Command sa WESCOM na naka base sa Puerto Princessa, Palawan.
Si Enriquez ay miyembro ng PMA Maringal Class of 1988 na unang itinalaga bilang AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and retiree Affairs o J9, mag mistah naman sina Gloria at Enriquez.
Kilalang mahusay na navy officer si Enriquez kung saan naging commanding officer ito ng ilang barko ng Philippine Navy.
Pinamunuan din nito ang Naval Task Groups Central at Sulu sa ilalim ng NTF61, Naval Task Group Tawi-tawi sa ilalim ng NTF62 lahat ito ay nasa areas of responsibility ng Naval Forces Western Mindanao.
Siniguro naman ni Enriquez na ipatutupad pa rin niya ang mga existing policies and guidance sa Wescom.
” The task at hand may be huge – but I firmly believe that — with the full support of our President — and with the able strategic guidance from our top defense and military leadership, your WESCOM shall perform effectively and be even more inspired to attain its mission,” pahayag ni Enriquez.
