Dismayado umano si Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William “Butch” Ramirez sa kakulangan ng promosyon sa nakatakdang hosting ng Pilipinas sa 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

“We would like to see signs of venues that this is the place where the game is to be played immediately,” wika ni Ramirez.

“There should be tarpaulins to create awareness that these are venues where the sport is being played in Subic and Clark.”

Sa panig naman ni Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) executive director Ramon “Tats” Suzara, hinihintay na lamang ng organizing committee ang official awarding ng mga bids para matugon nila ang hinaing ni Ramirez ukol sa promotion ng palaro.

“Even with the signages and the banners, it’s part of the procurement. So what we’re doing now in PHISGOC, we are getting this from the private support and funding,” ani Suzara.

Nitong Miyerkules nang lumagda sa tripartite agreement para sa hosting ng bansa sa SEA Games ang PSC, PHISGOC, at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).

Nakasaad sa kasunduan ang magiging papel ng mga organisasyon sa preparasyon at operasyon ng SEA Games.

Ayon kay Ramirez, naging ugat umano ng “mahirap” na sitwasyon ng 2019 SEA Games ang naantalang budget, gusot sa POC, at ang umano’y kurapsyon sa PHISGOC.

Pero ani Ramirez, “lessons learned” na raw ang naturang mga pangyayari.

“I don’t look at today as a very tight situation to the SEA Games, but those things taught us lessons that we have to work on,” saad ng opisyal.
