Senator Francis Tolentino stated that there is no legislation barring barangay officials from continuing to fulfill their official duties even if it offers them an unfair edge over their rivals in the impending Barangay Elections.

Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman George Garcia confirmed this.

Tolentino, the former mayor of Tagaytay and the president of the City Mayors League of the Philippines, also addressed the barangay officials who are running in the elections.

Tol said.

The Senator said that this explanation is critical because barangay officials are tasked with providing good health services as well as maintaining peace and order in their local areas.
