LEGAZPI CITY- A Catholic church leader strongly condemns President Rodrigo Duterte’s call to revive death penalty during his fourth State of the Nation Address on Monday.

In an interview of Bombo Radyo with Fr. Rex Arjona from Diocese of Legazpi, he said that death penalty will only add up the numbers of people killed amid the government’s deadly anti-drugs campaign.

In the 17th Congress, Kamara passed a measure seeking to reinstate death penalty for suspects of illegal drugs.

However, Fr. Arjona explained further that it will never mirror justice for the suspected criminals. / with reports from Bombo Radyo Legazpi; edited by Bombo Sol Marquez.
