World Boxing Council (WBC) interim lightweight champ Ryan Garcia wants to fight IBF welterweight champ Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis after the latter defeated Eimantas Stanionis last April 12, 2025, at Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City.
Garcia underestimated Stanionis vs Boots Ennis after seeing the fight. He said that Ennis likes to stay at 147 lbs because all the champions there are poor and that gives him easy wins.
Though Ennis is tough, Ryan exposed him that he ate punches several times that made him vulnerable for a knockdown. Ryan claimed that he is more ferocious than Stanionis.
“I don’t shy away from anybody. I’m willing to do that, too… yeah, 100%. another big fight, another mega-event, that’s what I like to do,” Garcia exclaimed when asked if he wanted to fight Ennis.
Garcia added that if Ennis likes to be in the pound for pound list, he needs to fight difficult fighters.
“In order to be the pound-for-pound best fighter, you have to beat some pound-for-pound ranked fighters … you have Crawford and obviously Vergil. The guy that Vergil beat, Isail Madrimov. Those are the top guys that are guarding the gate.” Promoter Oscar Dela Hoya agreed to Garcia.
As of this writing Ennis has not yet responded to the challenge but Garcia is serious about fighting him if the purse is good.
