Sandiganbayan Fourth Division found former Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito guilty of graft and corruption.

Ejercito’s case stemmed from the anomalous insurance deal supposedly for tourists and boatmen which he entered into while still mayor of Pagsanjan, Laguna on 2008.

The anti-graft court sentenced the former actor six to eight years of imprisonment and perpetual disqualification to hold public office.

Additional penalties include cancellation of his civil service eligibility and fofeiture of retirement benefits.

Sandiganbayan ordered Ejercito, nephew of former president now Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada to pay P30,000 bail bond for his temporary freedom.
