Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada is set to present his evidences next month at the Sandiganbayan after the court denied his appeal for the outright dismissal of his plunder case in relation with the controversial pork barrel scam.
The Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division will continue the trial against Estrada on July 8 at 8:30 a.m.
Estrada was accused for allegedly misusing his Priority Development Assistance Fund on bogus foundations of plunder convict Janet Lim Napoles in exchange of P183 million worth of kickbacks.
Estrada filed a demurrer to evidence at the Sandiganbayan claiming that the prosecution failed to prove his partnership with the scheme between 2004-2012.
But the court said that is is better to resume the trial where Estrada can contradict the allegations against him, noting that there is enough prosecution evidence to back up a guilty verdict. / With reports from Bombo Dave Vincent
