CEBU CITY – The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) bestowed an award for the captain of MV Siargao Princess for his heroic deed.
Petty Officer 3 Ralph Barajan saved 62 passengers of the said ship when it half-submerged into the deep waters of Sibonga, Cebu on November 7.
OPAC Secretary Michael Dino recognized Barajan for his courageous act because he made sure that everyone aboard is safe.
Barajan said that he conquered his fear on the half-submerged ship and instead focused on saving the lives of his passengers.
He also doesn’t want to see his passengers dying right before his eyes, Barajan added.
Aside from the plaque of recognition and promotion, Barajan will also receive a reward cash worth of P20,000 from President Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Bong Go.
The Philippine Coast Guard-7 also received praises from OPAV for their quick response on the said accident.
