Hinikayat ni House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez ang Department of Communications Technology (DICT) at National Telecommunications Company (NTC) na gawing simple ang SIM registration para makatulong sa milyong mga kababayan natin ang hindi pa nakapag rehistro ng kanilang sim card, partikular ang mga Filipino OFWs at ang kanilang mga pamilya.
Sinabi ni Speaker dapat magsanib pwersa ang DICT, NTC at ang tatlong telecommunications companies (Telcos) para sa nasabing proseso.
“Let us help millions of Filipinos who have mobile phones, but who still have not registered their SIMs as required by law, to register. Let us make it easier for them to take advantage of the 90-day registration extension granted by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,” wika ni Speaker Romualdez.
Pinasalamatan naman ni Speaker ang Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., sa pagpapalawig ng deadline dahil milyong mga kababayan natin ang hindi pa nakapag rehistro.
“In particular, let us assist overseas Filipino workers and their families to register. Their mobile phones are their principal means of communicating and connecting to each other. The thought that they could instantly make audio-video calls eases the pain of being thousands of miles away from home and from their loved ones,” dagdag pa ni Speaker Romualdez.
Ayon pa sa House leader, dapat tulungan ng Department of Migrant Workers at Department of Foreign Affairs ang DICT, NTC at Telcos na sabihan ang mga OFWs at ang kanilang pamilya para sa registration requirement.
“I suspect that OFW families in the provinces are finding it difficult to comply with the registration requirement. Some may even be unaware of it,” ayon kay Speaker.
Sa kabila ng effort ng mga Telcos na tulungan ang kanilang mga subscriber na magparehistro, ayon kay speaker, dapat aniya palakasin pa nila ang tulong ng sa gayon maipagpapatuloy ng mga ito ang paggamit sa cellular phone service.
“To go the extra mile in seeking out people who have bought and used their SIMs and help them to register so they would be able to continue using their cellular phone service,” saad ni Romualdez.
