Sugar production is expected to decrease for the 2023-2024 crop year according to the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA).

In the released Sugar Order No. 1 Series of 2023-2024 of the SRa board, the country’s total raw sugar production for the said crop year covering September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024 is estimated at 1.85 million MT with an estimated decrease in production of 10% to 15 % depending on how bad the impact of the impending El Nino phenomenon is.

The total decrease for domestic raw sugar for this crop year is estimated at 2.20 million MT.
The order also states that 1pp% of the expected 1.85 million MT will be allocated as B or Domestic Market sugar.

SRA can change the allocation or distribution percentage to other types of sugar.
