Today marks the 83rd year after the Japanese regime launched an invasion in the Philippines.
On December 22, 1941, the 14th Japanese Imperial Army, led by Lieutenant General Masaharu Homma, made its landing at Lingayen Gulf in Northern Luzon.
Composed of roughly 43,000 troops, the 14th Army was a blend of experienced veterans and inexperienced recruits. The Japanese Imperial Navy convoy heading to Lingayen Gulf consisted of over 60 ships that came from Taiwan.
This event marked a significant escalation in the Pacific theater, leading to the eventual occupation of the Philippines by Japanese forces.
