Tropical Depression “Gener” has slightly intensified and is now over the West Philippine Sea. As of 1:00 PM, its center is located 255 km west-northwest of Baguio City, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h and gusts up to 70 km/h. It is moving westward at 45 km/h, and strong winds extend up to 200 km from the center.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is in effect for parts of northwestern Luzon, where winds of 39 to 61 km/h pose minimal to minor threats. Heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected, especially in coastal and upland areas, due to the Southwest Monsoon intensified by Gener and Tropical Storm Pulasan.
According to Pagasa, gale warning is in place for several coastal areas, making sea travel risky for small vessels. Gener is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tonight or tomorrow morning, with a chance of intensifying into a tropical storm. Residents are advised to take precautions and monitor further updates.
