United States President Donald Trump together with First Lady Melania Trump is set to have a state visit in United Kingdom from June 3-5.
But before departing, the US President was asked to comment on Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle’s statement during the 2016 presidential election calling him “misogynistic” and “divisive.”
Trump said that Markle was “nasty” for making such comments about him.
“I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty,†Trump replied.
He also claimed he was not informed that Duchess of Sussex will not be meeting him because she is still on maternity leave.
“I didn’t know that. I hope she is OK,†Trump said.
Trump also expressed his hopefulness to be loved in the UK despite the massive protest happening in the country.
The US President will attend a ceremonial welcome on Monday in the Buckingham Palace garden.
The Queen, Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will also attend the said ceremony.
The prime minister said that the visit is a chance for UK and US to enhance their close relationship. They will also discuss trade, investment, security and defence.
However, many people already opposed the visit of Trump since he is a very controversial figure. From the executive order that limits entry to the US from certain countries, to the US-Mexico boarder and even his rejection of the Paris climate deal, have angered people both domestically and internationally.
