After all the cancellations, misunderstandings, and disruptions, the British most incredible boxing showdown may have finally come to reality in February 2022.
However, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn said he would not make any more until both his client, the unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury successfully dispatch their respective foes in the months to come.
After the hiatus on their already ‘signed about with Fury, Joshua will now face Oleksandr Usyk in September to defend his belt.
Meanwhile, Fury will have his trilogy with Deontay Wilder, who was the cause of another delay in Britain’s most significant heavyweight fight.
“But I think with AJ fighting September 25, Fury now delayed until October, I think February is more realistic,” said Hearn.
‘They had a massive offer from Saudi Arabia to do the fight there.
‘Ultimately, in the fight game, which is extremely dangerous and these guys are putting themselves on the line, it is about generating as much money for the fight as possible.
‘With fans back in the UK, is that an option? Las Vegas? We’ll see.
