The UAAP Season 86 Most Valuable Player and rookie Quendy Fernandez is pouring her golds into the water as she conquered the fifth gold medal in the Philippine National Games (PNG), held at the PhilSports swimming pool, today.
The Puerto Princesa City representative dives into her fifth gold medal after making a splashing performance in the 200-meter backstroke in the women’s category.
Fernandez emerged in the PNG swimming match after nailing her first four gold medals in just two days.
The UAAP MVP clinched her victory in the 50m and 100m back, 50m butterfly, and 200m medley relay with Cindy Fernandez, Maglia Jay Dignadice, and Pearl June Daganio.
“I understand that the level of competition here is different because you get to compete against the best swimmers all over the country, so I want to show what I’m capable of,’’ Fernandez stated.
The University of the Philippines ace swimmer also said that she dedicates her triumphs to her late Palawan Swimming Club coach Toyskie Dalisay.
