GENEVA – Sinisiyasat na umano ng World Health Organization (WHO) ang ilang mga lumabas na ulat na nagpositibong muli ang ilang mga COVID-19 patients matapos magnegatibo sa inisyal na test habang ikinokonsidera nang i-discharge.
Una nang iniulat ng mga opisyal sa South Korea ang 91 mga pasyente na nagpositibong muli sa coronavirus matapos ma-clear sa infection.
Ayon kay Jeong Eun-kyeong, director ng Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, maaari umanong na-reactivate ang virus sa halip na nagkaroon ng re-infection ang mga pasyente.
“We are closely liaising with our clinical experts and working hard to get more information on those individual cases. It is important to make sure that when samples are collected for testing on suspected patients, procedures are followed properly,” pahayag ng WHO.
Sang-ayon din anila sa panuntunan ng WHO sa clinical management, maaaring ma-discharge ang isang pasyente sa ospital matapos ang dalawang magkasunod na negative results sa loob ng 24 oras.
Batay sa pag-aaral, may pagitan na dalawang linggo ang pagpapakita ng sintomas at clinical recovery ng mga pasyenteng may mild COVID-19 disease.
“We are aware that some patients are PCR positive after they clinically recover, but we need systematic collection of samples from recovered patients to better understand how long they shed live virus,” dagdag nito.
Inihayag naman ng mga South Korean health officials na hindi pa raw malinaw sa ngayon ang nasa likod ng trend, at nagpapatuloy pa rin ang isinasagawang epidemiological investigation.
“As COVID-19 is a new disease, we need more epidemiological data to draw any conclusions of virus shedding profile,” saad ng WHO. (Reuters)
