Despite a 51% knockout ratio (KO) of Marlon Tapales, the underdog pinoy champion eyes an aggressive game plan vs Naoya Inoue on December 26, 2023 in Japan.
The Japanese monster has a 92% KO power but the sparring partner of Tapales revealed how the underdog pinoy became relentless.
“Nothing is impossible if [Inoue] brawls with Tapales, talagang meron paglalagyan. But even if they finish the rounds, I would still go with Tapales because he never lets up, punches a lot, closes the distance, and he is aggressive.” Jon Jon Estrada said after the sparring.
Featherweight champion Estrada (17-11-1) said that Inoue is too strong but Tapales with 36 wins, 6 loses and 0 draws eyes an all out war strategy.
Both champs will clash in 12 rounds for Inoue’s WBC and WBO junior featherweight titles and Tapales’ IBF and WBA junior featherweight titles.
The undisputed fight will make Tapales an instant superstar if he wins.
It can be recalled that Inoue defeated a number of popular champs like Donaire and Fulton yet the Japanese monster is still undefeated (25-0, 22 KOs).
