The United States government has pledged to give 4.6 billion pesos in funding the basic needs of the victims of a magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

The reliefs include temporary shelter, cold weather supplies, food, water, and healthcare.

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) said that they will be providing “hygiene and sanitation assistance to keep people safe and healthy”, as these supplies are highly needed because people might die from the cold temperature in the country.

“It’s cold. It’s winter. People need shelter. They need food, they need water, hygiene,” USAID deputy director Isobel Coleman said.

As of now, they started the deployment of the Disaster Assistance Response Team (Dart) consisting of 200 people which currently operates in the area of the Turkish cities of Adiyaman, Adana, and Ankara.

Governments around the world are extending help to Turkey and Syria after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the said countries.

Moreover, India, Germany, South Korea, Israel, and other nations have also sent their rescue crews.
