In kicking off the Women’s Month celebration, Vice President Sara Duterte praised the creativity and artistry of Davao’s floral artists.

The Vice President was the honored guest at the Floral Artists of Davao Association, Inc exhibit titled “Gamhanang Buwak: Flower Power,” which features Davao artists who use flowers as the subject of their artwork.

In her message, Duterte stated that the event highlights the Floral Artists of Davao’s commitment to promote the contributions of Dabawenya artists to contemporary Philippine art and culture.

Duterte added, Gamhanang Buwak, which translates as a powerful flower, demonstrates that Mindanawon women’s artistry has matured, bearing prominence and great influence.

The Vice President also thanked female floral artists for using their talents to express their ideas and visions.

She’s grateful for using creative work to boldly break the status quo and pave the way for a more vibrant, intricate, and interwoven society.

According to the Vice President, the courage serves as an inspiration  to continue looking for unorthodox ways of understanding contemporary issues.

“It is with the same courage that we can engage more women as voices and leaders of social transformation,” she added.

The Vice President also urged women to support President Ferdinand R. Marcos’ 8-point socioeconomic agenda in order to advance the country’s and Filipinos’ sustainable and holistic development.
