DUTERTE 1

Lawmakers believe in the high possibility of a warrant of arrest issuance by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to former President Rodrigo Duterte about the thousand of Filipinos who have died during the war on drugs campaign of the administration.

A lot of incriminating evidence was submitted by the families but as of now, only 2 extrajudicial killings (EJK) have been solved.

It was compared to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s case where Russia was not also a member of the ICC but was able to investigate the war crimes committed.

Raoul Manuel.

[Russia is not a member of ICC but they were able to release decisions against the war crimes of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This only means that it is also possible to investigate the crimes committed by former President Rodrigo Duterte even if he removed the Philippines as a member of the ICC to escape from the responsibilities. The victims of the bloody war against drugs are pitiful if former Pres. Duterte will not be brought before any court inside or outside the country. ]

Lawmakers are encouraging the ICC to have a faster investigation of the cases especially those former officials of the government who have records in wartime and other circumstances that violates the right of the people.
