Babantayan ng Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang tatlong probinsiya sa Bangsamoro Autonomous in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) para sa 2025 midterm elections sa Mayo 12.
Ayon kay WestMinCom commander Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, kanilang tututukan ang Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte at Maguindanao del Sur dahil sa presensiya ng maraming “red areas” na tumutukoy sa mga lokalidad na may mataas na potensiyal ng karahasan may kaugnayan sa halalan.
“I personally attend this forum to show my personal commitment and support for a peaceful and secured elections. I wanted to see each of the participant making their oath and commitment to do the same over the Holy Quran,” saad ni Lt. Gen. Nafarrete.
“As the people cast their votes, we will stand watch, as silent sentinels of freedom, ready to respond wherever duty calls. Together, let us protect the integrity of the National and Local Election 2025 and help shape a peaceful and hopeful future for all Filipinos.” dagdag pa ng WestMinCom commander.
Ginawa ng WestMinCom commander ang pahayag kasabay ng kaniyang personal na pagdalo sa Candidate Forum and Peace Covenant Signing para sa 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) na idinaos sa Mindanao State University (MSU) sa Marawi City, Lanao del Sur kahapon, Abril 15.
Sa kasalukuyan, mayroong 20 lokalidad sa Lanao del Sur ang nasa ilalim ng red category ng Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Maroon ding siyam sa Maguindanao del Sur at dalawa sa Maguindanao del Norte.
Nasa ilalim naman ng Comelec control ang Datu Odin Sinsuat sa Maguindanao del Norte dahil sa pananambang sa isang municipal election officer noong nakalipas na buwan.
